Middle School

St Peter’s Girls' new Middle School features open and flexible learning spaces, enhanced views of the stunning wilderness in neighbouring Ferguson Park and new technology to stimulate young minds.

Spanning Years 7 - 9, our Middle School is an engrossing learning environment that provides for the specific academic needs of adolescent girls, as well as their expanding and developing social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual domains.

Students are offered a broader range of subjects, preparing them for the educational choices of our Senior School.

Led by highly-qualified and caring staff, our teaching and learning revolves around our Middle School Academic Framework, which clearly identifies the skills and attributes we aim to build in our students. We empower them to be versatile, ethical and motivated individuals who collaborate, communicate and think creatively to achieve their best.

Head of Middle School Emma Smerdon is a passionate believer in the curriculum at St Peter’s Girls. Emma Smerdon holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Environmental Management and Sustainability, and a Master of Teaching. She is currently studying her Master of Education (Learning and Leadership). Emma advocates for the middle years being a time of growth founded in rounded learning experiences. She holds a deep understanding of the value of connection, and the significance of fostering relationships to empower girls in their education journey. Emma has been a highly regarded staff member at St Peter’s Girls’ School for the past decade, and her leadership progression acknowledges her many contributions to the school’s ongoing growth.

Under Emma's guidance, the Middle School aims to provide a sense of belonging for each student. As part of our progressively challenging Outdoor Education Program, our girls are encouraged to connect with their peers, experience life outdoors and take controlled risks in beautiful natural settings.

Girls in Years 7 and 8 participate in our unique Futures program to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. Students develop independence, initiative and creativity as they seek out an authentic problem worth solving.

Our Middle School sets our girls up for success and fulfilment as they prepare for the challenges of senior schooling.
